Volaris
An alien world of chalk-white mountains, bioluminescent forests, and a broken ship in its sky.
The Collector's working archive. These pages are still being written, and details may change as more is recovered from beyond the Rift.
The realm beyond the first door
When the Collector first stepped through a rift into this fractured realm, they found Volaris: a world lit like nothing human eyes had seen. Chalk-white mountains rise like jagged sentinels, their lower slopes carpeted in tufts of red grass. Across the rolling ground, bioluminescent flora breathe spores into the air that drift upward like reversed snowfall, painting the twilight in violet and orange.
Above it all drifts a landmark and a warning at once: the shattered aft of the Inferno, a wrecked ship turning in unstable orbit beneath twin suns. On clear nights its ember trail arcs across the sky, a timekeeper for those who now call this alien place home.
Mt. Volar and the Azure Forge
From the ancient volcanic spire of Mt. Volar, faint azure light seeps through crystalline lava flows, pulsing as though the world itself is alive. Beneath the mountain, lava tubes twist into a labyrinth: some long cooled to glass, others still trembling with subterranean heat. Walls deep inside are etched with runes that hum when scanned by a Rift Interface Unit, left by a hand no one has named.
Where the mountain fractures at its heart, veins of azure crystalline magma flow. This is the Azure Forge. Cooled, the lava sets into translucent shards that glow faintly in the dark and carry a strange charge, half natural and half Rift-born. Expeditions prize it, and rarely come back easy.
The Hollow Chorus and the Rift Spires
North of Volar winds a system of caverns called the Hollow Chorus, where sound behaves against the rules. Smooth, glassy walls amplify the faintest whisper into a haunting chorus of echoes, and carved runes ring when touched. Some claim the echoes form a language waiting to be assembled. Others believe the resonance calls to something deeper in the caves that would rather not be found.
Out on the plains stand the Rift Spires, forests of bioluminescent flora that glow like waypoints in the wild. Among them grow the vault orchids, blossoms that snap shut with a loud crack and refract light into spectral lattices. To a biologist they are a living mystery. To a Riftwalker they are both danger and opportunity.
